With more than 25 years of experience, she is a veteran marketing professional who injects strategic insight into multiple areas of marketing and communications process. Currently, Gwendolyn (Gwen) Kelly is a team member driving diversity and initiatives for the world’s largest retailer, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Previously as a client-side marketer, she built and managed the multicultural advertising initiative for American Family Insurance. Through a variety of advertising agency media management roles including Associate Media Director for Burrell Communications Group in Chicago, IL where she was responsible for the media management of the Procter & Gamble and Sears accounts. She has also worked at other leading advertising agencies including E. Morris Communications, Wells Rich Greene; and in Los Angeles, Tracy Locke and DDB/Needham, and the legendary, Della Femina, Travisano and Partners. Gwen has brought a tremendous amount of expertise, insight and leadership to her career assignments. A diverse group of non-profit and civic organizations have been the beneficiaries of Gwen’s talent, time and commitment to community. She has served in leadership roles and on the boards of a number of local and national community service organizations including Girl Scouts of the USA, Habitat for Humanity and the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH). Currently Gwen is a board member of the non-profit Champions For Kids. Gwen is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (B.S. in Broadcast Communications), attended Illinois State University for graduate study in Mass Communications. And as a life-long learner, she has pursued graduate study at Webster University and currently is pursuing an encore career via Executive Education leadership studies at Harvard Business School.
